Example stimuli used to study the readability of text on texturedbackgrounds.
We used 6 background textures and three text contrast levels.
Backgrounds:
- a periodic texture
- a plain "texture" of equal luminance
- four filtered textures (Band 1, Band 2, Band 3, Band 4)
Text contrast:
- black text (95% contrast)
- dark grey text (35% contrast)
- medium grey text (15% contrast)

Each of these does have a target word insertedinto the middle paragraph of text. Some text/target word examples areidentical in target word placement for these examples.
