Committee Activities and Research: Masteries Communication Efforts

 Communication Efforts about the masteries approach have been varied so that we can reach as much of the campus community as possible.

  • Creation of this Distinctive Identity Implementation Committee Web Site. This web site will be updated as progress is made during implementation.
  • Creation of handouts to communicate the Masteries Approach
  • Fall 2004: Meetings with campus constituents to share concept of Masteries
    • The university President and Provost (September 8th and December 10th)
    • Faculty Senate (September 8th)
    • The Academic Affairs subcommittee of the Board of Regents (September 20th).
    • Chairs Council (October 20th).
    • The College Deans (December 20th)
    • The chairs and deans of each college: (Education: Jan. 12th; Business: Jan. 26th; Sciences and Math: Feb. 2nd; Liberal Arts: Feb. 16th; Applied Arts and Sciences: Feb. 18th; Fine Arts: March 4th)
  • Fall 2004: Invited Speaker: Dr. Milton Hakel from Bowling Green State University was on campus on October 21st, 2004 to help communicate about the masteries approach. He met with the committee, with the president and provost, with the other administrators, with several faculty and students during lunch, and gave a campus-wide talk from 2-3pm, followed by an open reception.
  • Fall 2004: Creation of the Communication and Career Preparation Mastery Committees
  • Fall 2004: Creation of the Digital Portfolio Sub-Committee (Melane McCuller, Susan Jennings, Melanie Jephson, Ken Collier)
  • Spring 2005: Meetings with each College Dean and Chairs to start Implementation Discussions
